About

My artist name is Gimiro

a name i chose to be free of any cultural baggage—a name no one has heard before. I don’t want my art to be recognized for who I am, but rather for the art I create.

It is important for me to be inspired by others, but I insist that all my work is original and created by me. I photograph certain elements, such as a leaf, a statue, or a foot individually, and then draw them in my own style and often take those sketches and turn them into 3D objects. to include authentic objects in my works. It is essential for me to create everything from scratch, as it ensures that each piece is a unique and authentic extension of my thoughts and feelings. By working from the ground up, I have complete control over all aspects of the process, meaning that every detail, every line, and every shadow is a product of my own creativity and effort.

My drawing technique involves placing millions of dots on paper by hand to create the desired image. This method, known as “stippling,” forms images from numerous hand-placed dots. To create shadows, I vary the number of dots, using fewer for lighter areas and more for darker areas. Some areas may appear completely black, but upon closer inspection, they are revealed to be made up of dots. This is what I love about stippling.

Before I started stippling, I spent seven years creating my own video game, teaching myself everything. This journey has made me really good in some obscure skills.

Unfortunately, I suffer from a schizo mental illness and have been a patient in a psychiatric facility in Copenhagen for two years. During this time, I have met some of the most fantastic people and artists. One of my friends once told me that normal people’s art is the most boring, and I can’t help but agree. The art I love most throughout history has been created by people with unique minds.

I am fortunate to live with my girlfriend and brother, who are the biggest support I could ever ask for.

One of the best things about no-budget creativity is that it doesn’t need to make money. you can be self-indulgent and completely earnest because you don’t actually need an audience.

You make different content when you’re making it for your own consumption, and completely divorced from profit motive.

I’ve always been seen as different, but I don’t believe everyone fits into society’s typical boxes. I’ve found something I enjoy and feel good at, and that’s what I do.
